Key members of the Charters Towers community have voiced their support of Paul Murray’s broadcast at Charters Towers as his visit continues to make waves.

Katter’s Australian Party Leader, Robbie Katter said he was pleased the Sky News host held the spotlight over The Towers on his show ‘Our town.’

“Paul’s recent stop in Charters Towers, and his regional tours in general, go a long way to showcasing the many hidden gems around our country that don’t often enough get the attention they deserve by the mainstream media or by our Brisbane and Canberra-based governments,” he said.

“I definitely think the effort to showcase not only the issues facing the region, but also to highlight its many perks and attractions, can only help to raise our national profile and in turn attract more visitors.

“I’d welcome Paul and the wider Sky News team to visit anywhere within the North West, and would love to see him in Mount Isa next.”

Popular social and political commentator and local Daniel Sumpton said Paul Murray showed the country how important Charters Towers is.

“If you take a picture in any direction in town, you will see and feel an abundance of rich history,” Mr Sumpton said.

“Locals get to walk through and see the significance of our town to Australia everyday, but people around the nation sometimes need reminding of how beautiful and powerful this place is.”
