“We came in from out of town this year and we will definitely be back next year.”

Founder of the Charters Towers Newspaper, Daniel Sumpton said many tourists approached him at the show with admiration for the affair.

“This year, Sumpton’s Gold Rush Gazette had a booth to hand out past copies of the paper and people were filled with praise,” he said.

“I met people from Townsville, Mackay, Ingham, and many other places.

“They all praised the event and how much there was to do.”

Mr Sumpton also said locals he spoke to were of the same opinion.

“Many close friends of mine who live here loved it, especially the food.”
