Senate inquiry into gender reassignment for children shot down

The Senate has voted down a call for an inquiry into gender reassignment treatments for children.

Labor and the Greens have shot down an inquiry which was expected to investigate the effects of putting children on puberty blockers and life altering surgeries for gender reassignment.

One Nation’s Pauline Hanson announced her motion for an inquiry was dismissed by ‘Labor, the Greens, David Pocock, as well as Coalition Senate leader Simon Birmingham and Liberal Senators Hume, Smith, Bragg and Kovacic.’

Popular social and political commentators on social media were quick to give their thoughts.

Before the Senate vote on the inquiry, Hanson stated “No matter the result, I’ll keep fighting.”

She reaffirmed that sentiment the following day.

“Thank you to all the Senators who voted in support,” she said on X.

“We will keep fighting.”
