Founder and CEO of the evidence based, faith supported drug rehab program Transformations, Mike Barrett spoke to a North Queensland audience about the importance of rehabilitation.

Mr Barrett discussed faith, the drug rehabilitation program, and his own personal story of coming from “gutter to glory” with Charters Towers locals at Seasons Church.

In an exclusive interview, Mr Barrett talked about the origins of the Transformations Program.

“The Transformations program started in 1999 and all I did was rent a little house and it was like a supported accommodation program,” he said.

“I saw so many people hurting and broken with addictions and mental health problems and homelessness.

“I just rented a little house next to a church and that got full and then another and that got full and then another.”

The CEO and evangelist Mr Barrett said many problems in society starts with addiction.

“With domestic violence, there’s alcohol involved and with homelessness there’s mental health problems and addictions involved,” he said.

Mr Barrett said the best thing to do if you know someone facing issues or are facing issues yourself with drug addiction is call Transformations.

“Pick up the phone and call Transformations,” he said.

“We have the skills and ability to help.”
