Following the recent acquisition of Hillview Motel, significant plans are underway that could greatly impact local tourism.

Hillview Motel co-owner Julie Drake expressed ambitious plans for the future of the popular business, aiming to enhance visitor experiences.

“We want to put a caravan park out the back, just a small one, and a few more units and a little minigolf around the gardens for the community,” she said.

“We want to be very much community focused.”

Ms Drake and her partner also recently acquired Pentland Caravan Park.

Ms. Drake said she aspires to revitalise the establishment and Pentland as a township broadly.

“We want to go out and put a bit of life back into Pentland.”

Sumpton’s Gold Rush Gazette founder and columnist Daniel Sumpton said he was more optimistic about Charters Towers after the Hillview Motel acquisition.

“This is even more evidence that Charters Towers is doing really well,” he said.
