Local athlete Sam Le Feuvre travelled to Vichy, France to compete in the Virtus Global Games 2023.

Virtus Global is the biggest international sport competition for elite athletes with intellectual impairment.

Mr Le Feuvre represented his country in Athletics, winning Bronze in the II2 Tri Event and earning 4th in the 100m sprint, breaking the Australian record - and cracking the 14 sec barrier with 13.93 - just 0.6sec behind the world record set by a runner from Mexico.

The competitor’s mother, Theresa Le Feauvre said the event was life changing.

“It really was a life changing experience for Sam, travelling overseas, making some great mates and competing against other athletes from all over the world,” she said.

Sam, a Blackheath and Thornburgh student, had earned selection for the Australian team after successfully competing in the Oceania Virtus games in Brisbane, November 2022.

Mr Le Feuvre also ran an Australian record in the 200m event.
