Charters Towers Deputy Mayor Graham Lohmann has sung high praises for the newly reopened Excelsior Library in 2023 after its brief closure over the holidays.

Mr Lohmann stressed the high importance of the Library and its many functions.

“This facility is just wonderful,” he said.

“It’s a perfect repository for books but it’s much more than that.

“It’s a place where people can come and use computers, they can study, they can research, and they can just relax and read the newspaper.”

Mr Lohmann also discussed his longstanding connection with the local facility.

“I’ve been a member of the Charters Towers Library since I came here in 2001,” he said.

“I enjoy reading and I’ve found the Charters Towers Library has a large range of books both fiction and nonfiction.

“I like to read a selection of both and it’s just a great place to be able to get books because let’s be honest they are expensive and can be difficult to find.”
