The Charters Towers Regional Council will seek to set off two New Year’s Eve fireworks displays moving forward.

The CTRC set off a display of fireworks on Towers Hill during New Year’s Eve at 8:30pm to overwhelmingly positive reactions from locals but due to a short notice cancellation, there was no midnight fireworks display.

Deputy Mayor Graham Lowmann said there will be a concerted effort to have two fireworks displays in the future.

“We envisage that moving forward, there will still be the two fireworks displays because they have always been very popular here,” he said.

Mr Lowmann also confirmed the fireworks were well received by locals.

“The fireworks display at 8:30 was very well received in the community and I've personally had no one in the community complain about the quality of the fireworks on the night,” he said.

“I watched them and I thought they were wonderful.

“I love fireworks.”
