The Charters Towers Regional Council welcomed the loved ones of Val Cragg to Centenary Park for the unveiling of a park bench in her memory.

The highly respected local, known for organising the Centenary Park Charity Market and many other community contributions, Val Cragg passed away in November of last year.

Son of the late Val Cragg, Wayne Cragg said he was glad to see his mother being recognised for her hard work.

“It's good to see that all the hours she put in is recognised and people appreciate it, and the markets are still going on,” he said.

Prominent local and friend of the late community member, Jo Feirclough said the unveiling of the bench on Sunday was perfectly carried out.

“Seeing the emotion on the faces of the Cragg family honouring Val was emotional but full of love,” she said.

“The Charters Towers Regional Council have done us proud thanking Val for her years of service to our village, especially the last 14/15 years.

“Thank you, Val.

“We miss you.”
